Since 2021, the Black Butterfly Teaching Farm has been our hub for food production, farmer training, and community connection in South Baltimore. With support from the City of Baltimore, we signed a 15-year lease and planted our first crops that fall. Today, the farm continues to flourish as a place where neighbors, members, and aspiring growers come together to exchange knowledge, build skills, and strengthen community.
In 2025, construction is underway to help the farm grow even more. Thanks to a generous grant, upcoming upgrades will create expanded spaces for workshops and community gatherings, new facilities to train the next generation of urban growers, and more growing areas to support a wider variety of crops year-round.

Distribution
You might be wondering…where does the food go? We currently partner with the Maryland Food Bank, aggregate produce from our farm and member sites to sell at the 32nd Street Farmers Market, and supply local restaurants. We’re also excited to explore new partnerships in the 2026 season—check out this interactive map to see where our food is going!
