🌿 Founded 2011
✅ Accepts volunteers
The Filbert Street Community Garden is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was founded in 2010 as part of the City of Baltimore’s Adopt-a-Lot Program in an effort to mitigate the South Baltimore food desert. Our one-acre plot was overgrown and full of trash, but through the effort of community volunteers we have transformed the space into an agrotourism location and public park popular for its goats and 4,000 sq ft native garden.
Our mission remains the same as ever: to provide a space for recreation and education, fight food apartheid, promote environmental justice, and support urban wildlife.
