For 10 years, Black Yield Institute has been serving as a think tank and collective action network that addresses food apartheid within Baltimore, Maryland. We aim to establish a large-scale, vertically integrated farm dedicated to supplying our marketplace locations as well as other members of our food system with affordable, locally sourced produce.
We are on a mission to create a self-determined and self-reliant community of Black institutions, Black-owned businesses and people of African descent in Baltimore’s poor and Black food environments. We endeavor to define and govern all aspects of our food systems, including Black food politics, economics, agriculture, culinary practices, community, wellness and knowledge creation.
