Green Street Academy Farms is an urban farm that provides a wide range of educational experiences, with a focus on career skills, agribusiness and entrepreneurship, and self-reliance. Students have the opportunity to apply classroom STEM studies to sustainable farm practices and grow fresh, affordable produce for the community. The farm features a 100 ft hoop house, a fruit orchard, an aquaponics greenhouse, a state-of-the-art hydroponics greenhouse, an aquaculture facility and tilapia farm, a chicken yard, a 5,000 sq ft pollinator garden, and a bio swale rain garden – all of which were built by students from Green Street Academy’s agriculture career technology program.
Ultimately, the mission of Green Street Academy Farms is to train and shape environmentally conscious citizens for the future of Baltimore. Our farm is a schoolyard habitat that connects our students and our community to nature and the environment.
