Great Kids Farm (GKF) is owned and operated by Baltimore City Public Schools (BCPS) Food & Nutrition Services as part of the school district’s Farm to School (F2S) program. With 33 acres of forests, fields, a stream, greenhouses, and a barn full of animals, GKF promotes experiential education that connects students to nature and food systems. Our programs focus on three core areas: (1) food education for lifelong healthy habits, (2) nature-based exploration for wholeness and academic enrichment, (3) food system engagement for active citizenship, leadership development, and career skills.
Friends of Great Kids Farm is a nonprofit organization created to support, promote, and enhance the programming at GKF and the district’s F2S programming in general. Friends works with BCPS to bring the farm to the students and the students to the farm, providing hands-on opportunities to connect farm and plate, reinforce curricular concepts, strengthen environmental literacy, and promote healthy habits for the whole child.
